Linda Kirk, Chair

Linda Kirk has lived at 14 Park Lane since 1979, and worked at the University of Sheffield since 1969. Although a Londoner by birth, with an African phase after graduating, she now feels settled in Sheffield, and even more so in Broomhall. She has been pleased by the success of the campaign to rid the area of prostitution - she was once startled to find herself pitied for 'living in that dreadful place'.

Linda hopes that improved public transport may turn the tide of cars and car parking, but is not expecting much change in the short term.

As someone who makes a living out of students, Linda is ill-at-ease when they are denounced as the major bane of residents' lives, but she is keen to confront drunken fools with the realities of mutual responsibility and wants their institutions (when the fools are students) to police sub-criminal bad behaviour more effectively.
