LMS Northern Region Meeting, 2007

Sheffield, October 24, 2007

On Wednesday October 24, 2007, the annual Northern Region Meeting of the LMS will take place in Sheffield. The speakers are The Meeting is open to everyone interested, and the talks are intended to be accessible to a general mathematical audience. The Meeting commences at 2.30 tsharp.

The Meeting will be in Lecture Theatre 7 on Floor E of the Hicks Building. For maps of the campus and directions, click here.

There are funds available to contribute in part to the expenses of members of the LMS, and of UK research students, to attend the Meeting and Workshop. Requests for support, including an estimate of expenses, may be addressed to Kirill Mackenzie or to the LMS.

Lie algebroids and Lie groupoids in Differential Geometry

Over Thursday 25, Friday 26 and the morning of Saturday 27 October, there will be an associated Workshop, also supported by the LMS, on the theme Lie algebroids and Lie groupoids in Differential Geometry. The Workshop will focus on current work which uses Lie algebroids or Lie groupoids, specifically Poisson geometry and sigma models, gerbes and higher order geometric structures, supermanifolds, and orbifolds.
